Remember old Family Guy?
Here’s the original Pilot of the show, first aired in December 1998 and discovered recently in March 2025!
A little about the animation styles of old and new
Family Guy’s animation evolves gradually, but a noticeable shift to a brighter, more modern style began around Season 4, with North by North Quahog‘s cinematic feel. The look solidified into its current, consistent form by Season 8, making it harder to distinguish visually between the modern older and newer episodes. Early seasons (1-3) had thicker lines and subdued colors, transitioning through Seasons 4-7, then settling into the standard modern look from Season 8 onwards.
Key Animation Changes:
– Early Seasons (1-3): Thicker outlines, muted colors, classic 90s feel.
– Mid-Seasons (4-7): Brighter colors, less fluid animation, a blend of old and new.
– Modern Era (8 onwards): Consistent, brighter palette, sharper designs, indistinguishable from today’s episodes.
